The Senate has come up with an economic recovery plan that is worse than the House plan. The Senate bill includes over $100 billion more in tax cuts and $100 billion less in spending than the House bill. Nobel-prize winning economist Paul Krugman estimates the Senate bill will create 600,000 fewer jobs!
Tell your legislators to speak out against shrinking the economic recovery plan and adding more tax give-aways to corporations and the rich; and instead, prioritize aid to states and the unemployed.
THE SENATE IS SCHEDULED TO VOTE ON ITS PLAN ON TUESDAY.
Please take 5 minutes TODAY to call your Senators and your Representative. Below is a script and toll-free number that make it easy for you to make a difference.
Call toll-free 800-830-5738 or 202-224-3121 (Capitol switchboard) and ask to be connected to one of your two Senators. Then, tell the person who answers the phone:
- I am a constituent. My name is _____________.
- As a person who wants to reduce economic inequality, I urge the senator to vote for the economic recovery plan, and speak out against shrinking its size and adding tax give-aways to corporations and the rich that won't create jobs.
- Put aid to states and the unemployed back into the plan.

THE SENATE WILL VOTE TUESDAY, the House and Senate will reconcile their differences this week, and the bill will make its way to President Obama by February 16.
